with borismann we also started the discussion of moving the ‘stewardship’ of moa.party to [[social coop]], who we’re both part of — and who hosts a sizable community interested precisely in these issues, and with resources to run services well for the community.
who else is? it’d be interesting to define maybe optimistically the group of people that could review early proposals relevant to the interop between [[social coop]] and [[may first]] :)
I am working on a presentation for Thursday but after that I hope to get my feet wet with [[coop cloud]] / [[abra]] and with that unlock setting up a variety of services for [[social coop]] and the [[agora]] community.
We’re about to upgrade social.coop to Mastodon 4.3 (thanks @dphiffer and @3wordchant); you can expect some (hopefully short) downtime. We’ll ping this thread once this is done.#Socialcoop
#SocialCoop I am constantly low key afraid I’ve forgotten I’m oncall for the CWG, so I’ll now go and update the moderation rotation sticky in the instance and discover if I really did miss some days :)
#SocialCoop inline poll: should SocialCoop be one of the signatories of the [[Fedipact]] effort to preemptively defederate with Threads.net?https://www.loomio.com/d/AZcJK6y2 is an ongoing Loomio discussion about this but I wanted to see some in-instance discussion ideally.
#SocialCoop great job on the instance announcements! 7/7 were interesting :) thank you to the [[CWG]] team which keeps these running and does so much other work for the community!
A #Fediverse free text #poll for those interested: Which instances do you see as "good stewards" of the Fediverse? Or: which instance admins do you particularly trust?Interested in #SocialCoop feedback in particular, but open to everyone.
I reviewed #SocialCoop moderation cases and registrations; two each, quite light work :) And as usual, it’s exciting to see interesting people and projects joining us!
As previously announced #SocialCoop will now go down (hopefully shortly!) for maintenance. We expect to be back up within a few minutes; if we aren’t, please feel free to check for updates in the Matrix open room: https://wiki.social.coop/wiki/Matrix :)
#socialcoop wdyt about the update to Mastodon v4 overall? My take: some people have noticed unexpected UI changes (I myself don’t like the new ‘create account’ flow too much for example), but overall it seems like an improvement and I’m happy we’re now finally up to date and tracking upstream.
I’m oncall this week for the #socialcoop[[community working group]] starting on 2022-12-26, please let me know if you need anything!By default I plan to review registrations and the moderation queue daily.
#socialcoop I’ll be oncall for the [[Community Working Group]] and thus handling registrations and moderation issues this week. Please let me know if you need anything!
Hi #socialcoop! As announced last week, the [[Tech Working Group]] is about to bring down the instance for maintenance for a few hours. We will do a restore exercise in a new server, and might migrate to that new hardware tonight. If we don’t get that far, we will learn something from the process which will inform future practices :)
@3wordchant@ntnsndr in general I just want to try to think first, as a community, of the large number of people who are in [[threads]] because that’s where they friends are, for example — and how to help them onboard to the #Fediverse as well as we can!I would rather their first contact is with friendly open people and groups like those at #socialcoop
